According to a legend, a captain found the statue on the banks of the Vleterbeek.

First, he brought it to the St-Bertin’s church and afterwards to the church of Our Lady. Finally, it ended in the St-John’s church where it stayed. Our Lady of St-John does not only wear a crown but also a gorgeous gown sewn with silver thread. On very special occasions, the statue even wears a sparkling gown with gold thread.
